Dr Nataliia Hrytsiuk is an entrepreneurship researcher and practitioner working at the intersection of entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship education, and economic recovery. Her work examines how entrepreneurs navigate crises, forced displacement, and institutional uncertainty, with a particular focus on the role of entrepreneurship in Ukraine’s post-war recovery and long-term development.
Nataliia is a Postdoctoral Researcher at UCL School of Management, and an Associate Professor at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University in Ukraine. She is carrying out REFRAME, an individual research project supported by the MSCA4Ukraine programme and funded by the European Commission. The project investigates the factors shaping the entrepreneurial journeys of forcibly displaced entrepreneurs, including their motivations, decision-making processes, adaptive strategies, and intentions to return to Ukraine.
Nataliia is also Co-Lead and Co-organiser of UCL’s Next Generation of Entrepreneurs for Ukraine, an entrepreneurship education initiative recognised by AACSB, GCEC, and NEEA. Across two cohorts, the programme has supported more than 170 Ukrainian business founders, whose ventures have created over 70 jobs in the UK and Ukraine. The initiative has also contributed to the development of London’s Ukrainian entrepreneurial community.
In addition, Nataliia serves as Co-Lead of the Entrepreneurship & Innovation stream at Prosperity Coalition Ukraine, based at UCL’s Institute for Global Prosperity. In this role, she contributes to advancing entrepreneurship and innovation as key components of Ukraine’s recovery and foundations for its future prosperity.
Bridging academic research, entrepreneurship education, founder mentoring, and cross-sector collaboration, Nataliia seeks to translate research into practical approaches that help entrepreneurs, institutions, and communities navigate uncertainty, build resilience, and contribute to economic recovery.
Her research interests include entrepreneurship in extreme contexts, refugee entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial resilience, forced displacement, post-conflict recovery, entrepreneurial motivation, innovation ecosystems, and entrepreneurship education.
